The Karnataka High Court held that income tax returns are personal information exempt from disclosure under the Right to Information Act, 2005, even to a spouse, unless larger public interest is shown, advising recourse before a competent matrimonial court.
The Delhi High Court, On January 9, 2025 led by Justice Jyoti Singh, questioned the maintainability of a petition by Vijay Kumar challenging the AAP’s promise of a monthly stipend for women before the assembly elections. The petitioner argued the announcement was misleading. The petitioner had also reported this to the Election Commission, seeking urgent action.
