The Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe into allegations of favouritism in allotment of public works contracts to firms linked to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s family. The Court directed the CBI to begin a preliminary enquiry within two weeks and submit a status report within 16 weeks.
The Supreme Court has reserved its order on a plea seeking a court-monitored CBI probe into public works contracts allegedly awarded to firms linked to Arunachal CM Pema Khandu’s family. The Bench has asked all parties to file written submissions within two weeks before deciding on further investigation.
Supreme Court ordered the Arunachal Pradesh government to submit a complete statewide list of all public works contracts from 2015–2025 amid allegations involving firms linked to CM Pema Khandu’s family. The Court said the current “statistics are telling” and warned the State against withholding information.
Today, On 8th September, Supreme Court orders Centre to respond to a plea against Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu within three weeks, saying, “We must have a clear-cut answer regarding who received the contracts and the process involved,” emphasizing government accountability.
