Today, On 24th April, The Supreme Court, hearing the Special Intensive Revision case, praised West Bengal’s record voter turnout in Phase 1, with CJI Surya Kant saying he was happy to see citizens strengthen democracy. Justice Bagchi added that there were no incidents of violence.
The Supreme Court dismissed IA 6671/2026 while allowing parties to seek proper legal remedies, clarifying that only “effective interim or final orders” can be challenged. The CJI assured that the pending plea seeking stay on Section 4 will be listed after the nine-judge Bench matter concludes.
The Supreme Court has relaxed V. Senthil Balaji’s strict bail condition, saying he must now appear only when officially summoned. The court noted his flawless compliance for 1.5 years and called the previous requirement unnecessarily burdensome.
