Today, On 13th March, The Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of illegal sand mining in the National Chambal Sanctuary after noting alarming reports. It highlighted concerns that rampant mining is forcing ghadiyals to relocate, as documented in recent CSR findings today.
The Supreme Court criticised a petition seeking to return captive elephants from Gujarat’s Vantara rescue centre, calling it “completely vague” and directing the petitioner to add Vantara as a party. The case will be heard next on August 25.
Today, On 23rd July, The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a petition highlighting alleged illegal constructions inside Odisha’s Satkosia Tiger Reserve. CJI Gavai said, “Will consider the matter,” after Advocate Gaurav Bansal raised the issue before the Bench.
