Six years after Disha Salian’s death was closed as an accidental death, the CBI has registered an FIR on the Bombay High Court’s direction. The Court directed a fresh investigation while expressly protecting persons whose names have surfaced, holding that nobody is to be treated as an accused on that basis alone. Nothing has been established.
Mumbai Police told the Bombay High Court that Disha Salian died by suicide with no evidence of sexual or physical assault. Her father’s murder and gangrape claims were termed baseless by the police.
The Bombay High Court has directed its registry to assign Satish Salian’s petition regarding his daughter Disha Salian’s suspicious death to the appropriate division bench. Salian seeks a CBI investigation and an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray, alleging a politically motivated cover-up after her death in June 2020.
