The Supreme Court questioned the Centre on the “application of mind” behind Sonam Wangchuk’s detention under the National Security Act. ASG KM Nataraj defended the order, saying preventive detention cannot be compared to court judgments; rejoinder arguments will continue Monday at 2 PM.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk told the Supreme Court that despite winning 30 nation-building awards and openly opposing violence, he is being portrayed as a criminal under the National Security Act. His wife has challenged the detention, arguing that key videos showing his appeal for peace were withheld from the defence.
