The High Court of Tripura held that bar associations cannot discipline advocates for appearing before courts despite boycott calls, with Justice T Amarnath Goud granting interim relief to a suspended lawyer and observing that no bar rules mandate court boycotts by advocates.
The Supreme Court upheld a 3-year suspension of advocate Manoj Kumar Sharma for making scandalous allegations against Priyanka Bansal. The Court also imposed Rs 1 lakh costs and ordered recovery through attachment of his properties.
Odisha State Bar Council suspended advocate Hemanta Kumar Nayak for two years after he made derogatory Facebook posts with baseless allegations of corruption against judicial officers, saying such remarks tarnished the image of judiciary and violated legal ethics.

The Court criticized the advocate for participating in Bar Association elections while suspended, asserting he showed no remorse and deserved no sympathy. The appeal was dismissed.
