Supreme Court of India expanded definition of acid attack victims under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016. Bench of Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi included internal injuries and ingestion cases.
Allahabad High Court dismissed a plea to cancel an FIR in a planned acid attack linked to a property dispute, calling the allegations extremely serious. The court stressed the need for a full investigation and warned UP police over delays in submitting key injury reports.
The Supreme Court has directed all States and Union Territories to submit details of schemes for medical treatment of acid attack survivors. The Court said the aim is to ensure survivors get timely treatment and are not denied care due to lack of funds.
