Supreme Court Collegium Recommends New Judges for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Courts

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of several judicial officers as judges for the High Courts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The decisions were taken during a meeting held on January 11.

Telangana High Court Appointments

The Collegium has proposed the names of four judicial officers, including two women, for appointment as judges of the Telangana High Court. The names recommended are:

  1. Renuka Yara
  2. Narsing Rao Nandikonda
  3. Tirumala Devi Eada @ Thirupathamma K
  4. Madhusudhan Rao Bobbili Ramaiah

The Telangana High Court currently has a sanctioned strength of 42 judges, but only 27 judges are in position, leaving 15 vacancies. This recommendation aims to address the shortfall.

Andhra Pradesh High Court Appointments

For the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Collegium has recommended the names of two judicial officers for appointment as judges. The names are:

  1. Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma
  2. Dr. Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao

The Andhra Pradesh High Court’s sanctioned strength is 37 judges, but it is currently functioning with 26 judges, leaving 11 posts vacant. As of January 1, the High Court had 28 judges, but 9 positions were unfilled.
