The Supreme Court of India has issued a Gazette notification announcing partial Court working days for the summer period of 2026, along with the constitution of Benches for hearing urgent matters. The notification has been issued under Rule 4 of Order II of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, on the direction of the Chief Justice of India.
The Supreme Court of India has issued an official Gazette notification announcing partial Court working days for the summer period of 2026, along with the constitution of various Benches for hearing urgent matters during this time.
The notification has been issued in pursuance of Rule 4 of Order II of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013 (as amended), under the direction of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India.
The notification clearly states that the partial Court working schedule will be applicable from 1st June 2026 to 12th July 2026, after which regular Court functioning will resume from 13th July 2026.
During this period, different Benches comprising Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court of India will hear matters as per the roster prepared by the Registry.

It also specifies that the Registry will remain operational during working hours for administrative purposes, with separate timings for officers, staff, and Group-C non-clerical employees.

During the partial Court working days, the Registry will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for officers and staff, while Group-C (non-clerical) staff will work from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except Saturdays (other than 11th July 2026), Sundays, and holidays.
The notification has been issued under the direction of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India in accordance with the Supreme Court Rules, 2013 (as amended), thereby formally structuring the summer roster of Benches for 2026.
