The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has implemented new computer facilities for virtual hearings in response to Delhi’s deteriorating air quality. Sixteen computers are available to members, ensuring efficient access during legal proceedings. Additionally, the library and gym have reopened, demonstrating the SCBA’s commitment to supporting its members while prioritizing health and adapting to modern legal needs.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has taken a proactive step to support its members amidst Delhi’s worsening air quality. On November 20, the SCBA announced the availability of new computer facilities within the Supreme Court Complex Library, exclusively designed for virtual hearings.
This initiative directly addresses the challenges posed by environmental concerns in the region. According to the SCBA’s latest circular, 16 computers have been installed for members participating in virtual hearings. The association emphasized the importance of using these facilities exclusively for virtual hearings to ensure equitable access. Members are urged to free up the computers immediately after completing their hearings so others can utilize the facilities efficiently.

This measure aligns with Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna’s remarks on November 19, where he highlighted the option for lawyers to appear online, helping mitigate the effects of Delhi’s deteriorating air quality. By offering practical solutions for remote participation, the SCBA aims to maintain the smooth functioning of legal proceedings while addressing health and environmental concerns.
In addition to the computer facilities, the SCBA has also reopened other amenities for its members. The library and gym located in Block D of the Supreme Court Building Complex are now fully operational, further enhancing the support provided to its members.
This comprehensive approach by the SCBA ensures that legal professionals can continue their work seamlessly, even in challenging circumstances. The combination of enhanced virtual hearing capabilities and the reopening of facilities underscores the association’s commitment to adapting to modern needs while prioritizing the well-being of its members.
With this initiative, the SCBA is not only addressing immediate concerns but also paving the way for a more resilient and accessible legal infrastructure in the future.
