Today, On 23rd October, The Supreme Court permitted Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer Ankit Tiwari to travel from Tamil Nadu to Madhya Pradesh. This comes after Tiwari granted interim bail in March earlier this year. His travel clearance is part of ongoing legal proceedings.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted permission to Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer Ankit Tiwari, who arrested in 2023 by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) (DVAC) on bribery charges, to travel from Tamil Nadu to Madhya Pradesh.
Tiwari had been granted bail by the Court in March 2023, with the condition that he could not leave Tamil Nadu without prior approval.

Tiwari recently sought a modification of this bail condition, requesting permission to travel.
A Bench comprising Justices Surya Kant, Dipankar Datta, and Ujjal Bhuyan considered his plea and approved the request, allowing him to travel to Madhya Pradesh.
The court’s detailed order on the matter is still awaited.
This decision marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding Tiwari, as the case continues to unfold under the Court’s scrutiny.
Ankit Tiwari, an officer of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), was arrested last year by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) after allegedly being caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 20 lakh. Following his arrest, the Supreme Court intervened and stayed the DVAC investigation into the matter, providing temporary relief to Tiwari.

In April this year, the Supreme Court sought a response from the DVAC regarding Tiwari’s plea for default bail. Meanwhile, the ED also approached the apex court, requesting that the investigation be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing concerns about the ongoing probe.
During the legal proceedings, Ankit Tiwari represented by advocate Shivam Singh, while Senior Advocate Amit Anand Tiwari argued on behalf of the state of Tamil Nadu.
The case continues to progress, with the Supreme Court playing a central role in determining the next steps, including addressing the request for default bail and the potential transfer of the investigation to the CBI.
