The Supreme Court of India has introduced SAMADHAN SAMAROH 2026 to promote quick, consent-based dispute resolution through a Special Lok Adalat. The initiative focuses on “participative justice” and “doorstep delivery of justice” to reduce case backlog and speed up settlements.

In a major move to make the justice system more accessible, efficient, and people-friendly, the Supreme Court of India has launched a unique nationwide initiative titled “SAMADHAN SAMAROH, 2026”. This initiative has been introduced as part of the Court’s broader vision to strengthen alternative dispute resolution and reduce the burden of pending cases.

The programme, officially called “Supreme Court Action for Mediated Adjudication and Disputes Harmonization Across Nation”, will begin from April 21, 2026. It will conclude with a Special Lok Adalat to be held on August 21, 22, and 23, 2026.

Issued in public interest, the initiative reflects the Supreme Court’s commitment to ensuring “participative justice” and “doorstep delivery of justice”, making the legal process more inclusive and accessible for citizens across the country.

The core aim of this Special Lok Adalat is to enable

“amicable settlement of pending matters before the Supreme Court of India through consent-based resolution mechanisms.”

Instead of long court battles, parties will be encouraged to resolve disputes through mutual agreement, saving both time and costs.

Through this initiative, the Supreme Court is inviting wide participation from all sections of the legal community and the public.

As stated in the official announcement,

“All advocates, litigants and stakeholders are requested to actively participate and contribute to the effective resolution of disputes under this initiative.”

This call highlights the collaborative nature of the programme, where all parties play an active role in resolving disputes.

To ensure maximum accessibility, the Court has provided flexible participation options. Parties can choose to attend proceedings physically or join virtually through an online platform. The notice clearly states,

“Parties can appear both physically or virtually on the online platform to arrive at settlements of their disputes.”

This hybrid approach is expected to increase participation from across different regions of India.

For those interested in taking part, the Supreme Court has simplified the application process. Parties and their counsels can submit their requests through a Google Form provided by the Court. The form is accessible via a direct link and is also available on the official Supreme Court website. This streamlined process is designed to encourage more people to opt for settlement through this initiative.

To support the smooth functioning of SAMADHAN SAMAROH 2026, a dedicated One Stop Centre (War Room) has been established. This centre will assist participants with queries and coordination related to the Special Lok Adalat. Multiple contact numbers and an official email ID have been provided to ensure easy communication and support.

The launch of SAMADHAN SAMAROH 2026 marks an important step in transforming India’s dispute resolution landscape. By promoting mediation and consent-based settlements, the Supreme Court is moving towards a more efficient, cost-effective, and citizen-centric justice delivery system.

This initiative not only aims to reduce the backlog of cases but also encourages a culture of cooperation and understanding between disputing parties. It reinforces the idea that justice can be achieved not just through judgments, but also through dialogue and mutual agreement.
