PUNE, MAHARASHTRA: The tragic car accident in Pune, claiming the lives of two young software engineers from Madhya Pradesh, demands for justice and accountability from the victims’ families.

Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24-year-old IT professionals, lost their lives on May 19 when a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy, collided with their motorcycle in Pune.

Hailing from Jabalpur and Birsinghpur Pali in Umaria district respectively, the families of Ashwini and Anish have come forward, demanding that the Supreme Court oversee both the investigation and trial of the case.

Suresh Kumar Koshta, Ashwini’s father, emphasized the necessity for the Supreme Court to oversee the investigation and trial proceedings to guarantee justice.

He asserted that due to the severity of the crime, the accused should be treated as an adult and not as a minor.

Koshta alleged that the accused was driving under the influence of alcohol when he fatally struck his daughter and Anish. Concerns were further raised when the teenager was initially granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board, following which he was instructed to write a 300-word essay.

However, in response to public outcry and a police review plea, the teenager was later remanded to the observation home until June 5.

Adding to the complexity of the case, the police have also arrested the teenager’s father, Vishal Agarwal, a real estate developer.

Over the phone, Om Prakash Awadhiya, Anish’s father, declared,

Awadhiya also raised concerns about the alleged preferential treatment afforded to the accused at the police station, despite lacking a valid driver’s license. Stressing the gravity of the situation, he advocated for the accident to be treated as a double murder.
