PM Modi remarked that doubts and aspirations of the “INDI Alliances” regarding EVMs were shattered by the recent Supreme Court verdict.

NEW DELHI: Today (April 26): Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the India alliance following the Supreme Court’s rejection of the plea for 100 percent voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) verification of electronic voting machine (EVM) votes.

PM Modi accused opposition leaders of committing the sin of creating doubts about EVMs, asserting that their dreams have been shattered by the court’s verdict. He emphasized the opposition’s disregard for the Indian constitution and democracy, claiming that they had previously prevented people from exercising their voting rights.
PM Modi highlighted,
“For decades, they prevented people from exercising their voting rights, with booth capturing rampant… They didn’t even allow voters to step out and cast their votes… Now, when honest and poor voters have the power of EVMs, efforts are being made to eliminate them… Today, the Supreme Court has firmly stated that the old ballot paper voting system will not return.”
PM Modi alleged that these parties had long suppressed voters, resorting to booth-capturing and preventing people from casting their votes. However, with the advent of EVMs, the poor and honest voters now possess a powerful tool, which has triggered attempts by the opposition to discredit the EVMs.
“Today, India receives global acclaim for its democracy and election process, including the use of technology. However, certain individuals, driven by self-interest, have tarnished the reputation of EVMs. Their actions amount to a betrayal of democracy,” he emphasized.
PM Modi welcomed the Supreme Court’s strong verdict, which ruled out a return to the old system of paper ballot voting. He called on the opposition parties to apologize to the public for casting doubt on the integrity of EVMs. He noted that India’s democratic process and the application of technology in elections have gained international recognition, while the opposition, driven by self-interest, has continuously defamed the EVMs, betraying the principles of democracy.

Taking aim at the RJD and India alliance, PM Modi accused them of exploiting the poor under the guise of paper ballots. He highlighted past incidents of polling booth looting and ballot theft, asserting that those who engaged in such malpractices were now uneasy about the presence of EVMs. He attributed the Supreme Court’s decision to the strength of democracy and the vision of Dr. Ambedkar, underscoring the shattered dreams of those who intended to loot ballot boxes.
“Polling booths were looted, paper ballots were stolen. Today, with empowered voters, those who once engaged in election-day theft and attempted to snatch ballots are restless. Their sole agenda, day and night, is to eliminate EVMs,” he asserted.
“Observe the strength of democracy and Dr. Ambedkar’s constitution. The Supreme Court’s resolute decision has shattered the dreams of those who sought to plunder ballot boxes. The Court unequivocally declared that the antiquated ballot paper system will not be reinstated,” he added.
The Supreme Court’s dismissal of all petitions seeking 100 percent verification of EVM votes with VVPAT slips was seen as a significant blow to the opposition’s campaign against EVMs. PM Modi expressed gratitude for the support he received from the people, emphasizing that their love provided him with immense energy. He pledged to work diligently in his third term, making decisions that benefit the nation and its citizens.
PM Modi appealed to voters, particularly the youth, to turn out in large numbers. He urged them to create a festive atmosphere at the polling booths. PM Modi declared that the objective of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was to strengthen India economically, with the people of Bihar playing a crucial role.
“The immense support from Araria is a great source of motivation for me. I am committed to working tirelessly, and in my third term, we will make even more decisions for the welfare of the nation and its people,” PM Modi affirmed.
With 88 seats undergoing polling in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi encouraged citizens to participate in large numbers.
“I urge voters, especially the youth, to come out and vote. Let’s create a festive atmosphere at the polling booths,” he emphasized.
PM Modi accused the INDI alliance of seeking personal enrichment by seizing the property of the people, contrasting it with the BJP-led NDA’s commitment to empowering the Indian populace.
“Today, there are two distinct political currents. On one side, we have the BJP-led NDA, committed to empowering the people of India. On the other side, stands the INDI alliance, focused on self-enrichment at the expense of the people’s assets,” he asserted.
Highlighting the BJP’s efforts in the state, PM Modi mentioned the direct benefit received by farmers through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
“Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, farmers in Araria received Rs 1600 crore directly in their bank accounts,” he emphasized.
“People in Bihar still remember the dark days of Jungle Raj. The residents of Araria and Seemanchal have resolved to teach a lesson to the parties indulging in nepotism,” PM Modi concluded.
He highlighted the BJP’s accomplishments in Bihar, such as the direct transfer of Rs 1600 crore to the bank accounts of farmers in Araria through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. PM Modi concluded by stating that the people of Bihar were determined to teach a lesson to nepotistic parties, recalling the dark days of “Jungle Raj.”
