The Supreme Court dismissed a plea to stay the caste Census and rebuked the petitioner for using improper language. The Bench sharply questioned then, “‘Aapne apne petition me badtameezi ki bhasa likhi hai, kisse apna petition likhwaya hai?’ “
The Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking directions to the Centre to stop the caste Census, and criticised the petitioner for the language used in the PIL.
Chief Justice Surya Kant told the petitioner, who appeared in person,
“’Aapne apne petition me badtameezi ki bhasa likhi hai. Aapne kisse apna petition likhwaya hai’ (You have written indecent language in your petition. Who has written your petition?),”

The CJI, heading the bench that also included Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi, asked the petitioner,
“Aap kahan se aisi bhasa likhte ho petition me (From where you write such language in your petition),”
The bench dismissed the plea, which also sought directions for the Centre to frame policies offering economic incentives to families with a single child.
Earlier, On February 2, the top court had refused to entertain another PIL challenging the process to be followed to record, classify, and verify caste data of citizens for the 2027 general Census.
The 2027 Census officially the 16th national census will be the first to include comprehensive caste enumeration since 1931, and also the country’s first fully digital census.
A census is a complete count of the population of a country. The government collects detailed information about all people living in the country, such as age, gender, education, job, family details, and housing conditions.
