Thiruvananthapuram: Today(on 22nd April),The Supreme Court has dismissed Greeshma’s plea in the Parassala murder case, where she was the main accused, to annul the final report. The bench, headed by Justice Vikram Nath, upheld the authority of the Crime Branch DySP to file the report, in line with a prior High Court ruling, bolstering its legitimacy. Greeshma’s challenge stemmed from her dissatisfaction with the High Court’s decision.
Representing Greeshma in the petition, Advocate Sriram Parakkat argued that, according to regulations, only the officer in charge of the police station should be responsible for filing such a report. It was stressed that the Crime Branch DySP cannot issue an investigation report without formal authorization assigning charge to the station. Consequently, the plea sought to invalidate the report and all subsequent proceedings currently pending before the Sessions Court.

The Parassala murder case revolves around a incident that occurred on October 14, 2022. According to the allegations, Greeshma invited her lover, Sharon Raj, to her residence and administered poison to him. Tragically, Sharon succumbed to his injuries on October 25, 2022, while undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
Upon completion of the investigation, the team submitted its report to the Neyyatinkara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court for trial proceedings. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the Sessions Court. However, concerns have arisen regarding the legality of the final report prepared by the DySP, who led the special investigation team.
Last October, the Supreme Court rejected Greeshma’s request to transfer the trial of the case to Tamil Nadu. Justice Dipankar Dutta’s bench emphasized that the trial should proceed within Kerala’s jurisdiction, dismissing Greeshma’s plea.
The dismissal of Greeshma’s transfer request by the Supreme Court reaffirms the importance of conducting the trial within Kerala’s jurisdiction. This decision ensures that the case will be adjudicated in the appropriate legal framework, providing a fair and impartial trial for all parties involved.
