New Delhi: A petition has been submitted to the Supreme Court requesting the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET PG 2024), which scheduled for August 11.
The plea, filed by Vishal Soren, highlights the difficulties candidates face in reaching their exam centers, as many have been assigned locations in cities that are challenging for them to access.
The plea states,
“Many similarly placed candidates have been allocated cities that are highly inconvenient for them to reach and further seek details of the formula for normalization of the four sets of question paper and seek clarity on ensuring that the normalization formula is disclosed to the candidates, thereby eliminating any possibility of arbitrariness in the process,”
The allocation of test cities made on July 31, with designated centers set to be announced on August 8. This has left candidates with very little time to make travel arrangements to their respective centers for the August 11 exam.
Additionally, the exam scheduled to be conducted in two batches, and the formula for normalization remains unknown to the candidates, causing further concern, according to the petition.
The petitioner requested that the exam be postponed until the petition is resolved.

The petitioner argues that the limited time for travel arrangements and the uncertainty regarding the normalization process justify the need for postponing the exam. The petition urges the Supreme Court to stay the exam until these issues are adequately addressed and resolved.
In conclusion, the plea filed by Vishal Soren calls for the postponement of the NEET PG 2024 exam to ensure that all candidates have a fair and reasonable opportunity to appear for the test without facing undue logistical challenges.
The petitioner seeks the Supreme Court‘s intervention to provide clarity on the normalization process and to alleviate the difficulties posed by the current exam schedule.
