NALSA and the SC Mediation Panel will start a 90-day “Mediation For the Nation” campaign from July 1 to settle pending cases. The initiative promotes cost-effective, people-friendly dispute resolution across India.

New Delhi: Today, on June 26, The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), along with the Supreme Court’s Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), is set to begin a major campaign called “Mediation For the Nation” starting from July 1, 2025.

This initiative, which will run for 90 days across the country till September 30, 2025, is aimed at resolving a large number of pending legal cases through mediation — a peaceful and friendly method of dispute resolution.

This new campaign has been launched to promote the use of mediation among the public, showing that it is an effective and affordable way to settle disputes without going through long and expensive court trials.

In a statement issued by NALSA, it was clearly mentioned that

“Mediation ‘For the Nation’ campaign is being launched across India to settle the pending cases and make people believe that mediation as a mechanism for dispute resolution is peoples’ friendly, cost effective and speedy with ability to save relationships, time and money.”

Through this campaign, NALSA and MCPC aim to spread awareness about the benefits of resolving conflicts outside the courtroom. Mediation is a process where a neutral third person (called a mediator) helps the parties in a dispute to reach a mutually acceptable solution.

It is not only faster and cheaper but also helps in keeping relationships intact — something that is often lost in regular court battles.

This national campaign is expected to include thousands of mediators, judges, legal service authorities, and court officials across different states, all working together to encourage people to choose mediation as their first step in settling disputes.

The focus will be on family matters, civil cases, property disputes, and other pending legal matters that are suitable for mediation.

The “Mediation For the Nation” campaign is part of a larger effort to reduce the burden on Indian courts, which are struggling with lakhs of pending cases.

It also aligns with the government’s push to make justice delivery more accessible, affordable, and citizen-friendly.

With mediation being increasingly recognized and backed by the legal system, this 90-day campaign will serve as a major step toward promoting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in India.

The organizers hope that more and more people will come forward to try this peaceful method and resolve their disputes in a time-saving and relationship-preserving way.
