The Supreme Court will hear a plea tomorrow seeking a judicial probe into the Pahalgam terror attack.
Petitioners demand accountability, security measures, and an SIT for a fair investigation.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India will hear an important petition tomorrow that demands a detailed investigation into the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists.
The petition has been filed by three residents of the Union Territory – Fatesh Kumar Shahu, Mohammad Junaid, and Vicky Kumar.
In the petition, they have asked the Hon’ble Supreme Court to form a judicial commission under a retired judge of the Supreme Court to look into all aspects of the terror attack.
They have also requested the court to issue directions to the Central Government to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to ensure proper accountability and a transparent investigation into this serious incident.
The petition also seeks the Court’s intervention to direct the Government of India, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to jointly prepare a strong and clear action plan for the safety and security of people visiting tourist spots in Jammu and Kashmir.
The demand for justice and safety comes at a time when the central government has been holding key meetings on national security.
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and other top-level departments have already met to review the terror incident in Pahalgam and discuss several national security concerns.
As per government sources,
“India has responded with effective fire to ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistani forces.”
The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) from both India and Pakistan also had a conversation over the hotline today to talk about these violations.

Officials revealed that,
“India warned Pakistan against ceasefire violations along the LoC and the International Border.”
They further added that the Indian Army reacted quickly to the ceasefire violations that took place on the night of April 27-28 in areas near Kupwara and Poonch districts.
There has been a noticeable increase in cross-border firing by Pakistani troops, which has pushed Indian security forces to conduct stronger and more frequent anti-terror operations across the Kashmir valley.

The CCS has observed that the Pahalgam terror attack happened soon after the peaceful and successful conduct of elections in Jammu and Kashmir. It also noted that the region has been making steady progress towards “economic growth and development.”
Taking a tough stance, the Government of India has already taken several strong steps against Pakistan for its alleged support to terrorism. These include holding the historic Indus Water Treaty in abeyance and shutting down the integrated check post at Attari.
The government has shown its firm resolve by granting complete freedom to the armed forces.
As sources confirmed,
“The government has given armed forces complete operational freedom to decide on the response to the Pahalgam terror attack.”
This plea in the Supreme Court is being seen as a significant step toward seeking justice for the victims and sending a strong message that safety, security, and accountability are of utmost importance, especially in sensitive areas like Jammu and Kashmir.
