BREAKING | Rouse Avenue Court Allows CBI to Interrogate BRS leader K Kavitha in Tihar Jail

Today (5th April) The Rouse Avenue Court granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to interrogate BRS leader K Kavitha in Tihar Jail. Kavitha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam on March 15. The CBI had filed a plea seeking permission to question Kavitha while she is in judicial custody, which was approved by the court.

NEW DELHI: Today (5th April): A Delhi court allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) request to interrogate Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

The court, presided over by Special Judge (PC Act) Kaveri Baweja at the Rouse Avenue Courts, granted the CBI’s application, allowing them to question Kavitha.The court allowed the CBI’s application to question Kavitha during her judicial custody. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) approached the court seeking permission to record the statement of K. Kavitha as part of an ongoing investigation.

“I have considered the submissions made and in view thereof, the application is allowed,” the Court said.

Background:

K. Kavitha, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as part of the investigation into the money laundering aspect of the Delhi excise policy case. The case revolves around allegations of corruption and bribery related to the excise policy in Delhi.

The CBI intends to question K. Kavitha regarding the contents of chats recovered from the phone of a person named Buchi Babu, who is associated with her. Additionally, the agency seeks to obtain information about documents related to a land deal. These documents allegedly indicate the payment of Rs 100 crore as bribes to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the form of kickbacks.

At present, K. Kavitha is in judicial custody following her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The court had reserved its verdict on her interim bail plea in the ED case, and the order on the matter is scheduled to be pronounced on April 8.
