Today, On 25th August, A Sambhal court has postponed the hearing in the case filed against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his alleged “fighting Indian State” remark. The matter will now be taken up for further proceedings on September 26.
A local court scheduled a hearing for September 26 regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comment about “fighting the Indian state itself.”
Additional district judge Aarti Faujdar set this new date because records from a lower court were unavailable.
Senior lawyer Sagir Saifi, representing Gandhi, informed media that the case was postponed due to the lack of these records.

During the inauguration of the Congress’ new headquarters in Delhi on January 15, Gandhi reportedly stated that the BJP and the RSS had taken control of every institution in the country, saying,
“We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS and the Indian state itself.”
The petitioner, Simran Gupta, from the Hindu Shakti Dal, argued that Gandhi’s remarks showed a lack of respect for the citizens and democracy of India.
Gupta claimed,
“Rahul Gandhi’s statement deeply hurt the sentiments of people across the country.”

She had previously approached the district magistrate and the SP in Sambhal, but after no action was taken, she filed a case in court on January 23.
The Sambhal court initially issued notice to Rahul Gandhi to appear or respond by April 4, 2025.
Today, The court has deferred the next hearing to September 26, 2025.
