In the R G Kar rape-murder case, the victim’s mother told the court that the CBI has done everything to shield the real culprits and has failed to file the supplementary chargesheet, despite repeated requests from the grieving family.

Kolkata: The mother of the victim in the RG Kar rape and murder case expressed her frustration with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), stating that the agency has been protecting the real culprits.
Speaking to a trial court in Kolkata, she said,
“The CBI is supposedly India’s most high-profile investigative agency. But they have done whatever is required to protect the real culprits in the case. CBI’s investigating official does not respond to our calls. They are yet to file the supplementary chargesheet in the case.”
Her plea included a request to provide a confidential statement before a judicial magistrate, which met with opposition from the CBI counsel.
On that same day, the CBI presented its seventh status report concerning the investigation, informing the court that they had questioned 11 new individuals regarding the case.
Earlier, the trial court had identified Sanjay Roy, a former civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, as the sole perpetrator in the rape and murder of a junior doctor last August, sentencing him to life imprisonment.
Currently, the CBI is examining a possible “larger conspiracy” related to the crime. The victim’s parents have consistently accused the agency of a lackadaisical approach since the investigation’s second phase began.
This marks the first time the victim’s mother openly criticized the CBI for allegedly shielding the main offenders.
During the hearing, a woman CBI officer appeared visibly emotional, later emerging from the courtroom in tears.
She reportedly told reporters,
“I am too a mother,”
