[Pune Porsche Crash Case] Accused Minor’s  Father Granted Bail

Today, On 27th June, The father of the teen accused in the Pune Porsche accident granted bail. Previously, on June 24, the Bombay High Court ordered the release of the boy from an observation home. The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of a luxury vehicle and a minor. Legal proceedings are ongoing as authorities continue to investigate the incident.

Pune: The father of a 17-year-old boy, who fatally injured two individuals while driving a Porsche at high speed, granted bail by a Pune court on Friday.

The police detained him on May 21 for attempting to evade law enforcement. He faced charges under Section 75 (wilful neglect of a child or exposing a child to mental or physical harm) and Section 77 (providing a child with intoxicating substances) of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

Following his arrest, he initially placed in police custody for two days before being transferred to judicial custody for 14 days. Now, he has been released on bail.

In a related development, the Bombay High Court ordered the release of the minor boy from an observation home on June 24. After the accident, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) initially released the boy under parental supervision, but his bail later revoked, and he sent to an observation home.

The High Court ruled that the order placing him in an observation home was unlawful and beyond its jurisdiction, thereby directing that he be placed under the care of his paternal aunt. The teen faces charges under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Additionally, the police arrested two doctors and a peon for allegedly tampering with the boy’s blood sample report, which indicated he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, where a Porsche allegedly driven by the 17-year-old crashed into a two-wheeler, killing two IT professionals. The police claimed the juvenile was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The Police have arrested Naman Bhutadaowner of Cosie Hotel, bar counter manager Sachin Katkar, and Blak club manager Sachin Sangle. These individuals are accused of serving alcohol to a juvenile, who later caused the fatal accident. The father of the juvenile has also been arrested, although he has yet to be presented in court for custody.

The Pune Police arrested Surendra Agarwal, the grandfather of the 17-year-old boy who fatally crashed his sports car into a bike, killing two IT professionals on May 19. The arrest took place at 3 am on Saturday from Agarwal’s residence, marking the third FIR registered in this case.

The police station registered a case against the juvenile driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act, including charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence.

The police have charged the minor with rash and negligent driving and causing harm by endangering life or personal safety under IPC Sections 304A, 279, 337, 338, and 427, along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Act.
