The Coimbatore Mahila Court will announce its verdict on May 13 in the high-profile Pollachi sexual assault case. Justice R. Nandhinidevi, despite her transfer, will deliver the judgment as per a recent order.

In an important update in a sensitive criminal case, Justice R. Nandhinidevi, who has been handling the trial since it began, will now deliver the final judgment even though she has recently been transferred to Karur,
according to sources from the court,
“Though Justice R. Nandhinidevi, who handled the trial from the beginning, was transferred to Karur, according to a recent order, she will deliver the judgment in the case,” said court sources.
This case is related to serious allegations of sexual assault against nine men. The accused are charged with not only sexually abusing several women, but also secretly recording the assaults without the women’s consent.

Later, these videos were allegedly used to blackmail the victims for sexual favours and money. These acts have caused widespread public concern and have been under close legal scrutiny.
The names of the nine accused in this case are:
N. Rishwanth alias Sabarirajan,
K. Thirunavukkarasu,
N. Sathish,
T. Vasanthakumar,
R. Manivannan alias Mani,
K. Arulanantham,
P. Babu alias ‘Bike’ Babu,
Haronimus Paul, and
M. Arunkumar.
The case first came to light when a 19-year-old college girl filed a police complaint in February 2019. She accused the men of sexually assaulting her. Based on this complaint, a case was registered by the local police.

As the case gained seriousness and more victims stepped forward, the investigation was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). After a detailed inquiry, the CBI filed the chargesheet against all nine accused.
So far, at least five women have come forward with similar complaints against the accused. These victims have reportedly provided their statements and cooperated with the investigation.
The trial was conducted carefully, following specific instructions from the Madras High Court. To protect the identity and dignity of the victims, the court made sure that all necessary privacy and safety measures were in place. During the trial, the court heard the testimonies of over 40 witnesses, including survivors, medical professionals, and investigating officers.
