Judge Ashraf A. M. of the Manjeri Fast Track Special Court sentenced the man to 141 years in prison under various provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the IPC.

Malappuram: A Kerala court found a man guilty of repeatedly raping his minor stepdaughter for years while her mother was away from home, and sentenced him to 141 years in prison cumulatively.
Judge Ashraf A. M. of the Manjeri Fast Track Special Court sentenced the man to 141 years in prison under various provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the IPC.
But according to the court’s order of November 29, the man will serve 40 years in prison because that was the maximum jail term that was given to him, and the various sentences are to be served concurrently.
According to the Malappuram Vanitha Police case filed in 2021, the accused sexually assaulted and mistreated his stepdaughter for four years. Sub Inspector P V Sindhu filed the chargesheet, while Inspector Rasiya Bengalath of the Women’s Police Circle oversaw the investigation.
In accordance with sections 376(3), 354 A(1), 354 A(2) of the IPC, sections 5(1), 6(1), 5(n), 9(1), 10, 9(m) of the POCSO Act, and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, Judge A M Ashraf of the Manjeri Special Court sentenced the defendant. The prosecution was represented by A Somasundharan, Special Public Prosecutor. Twelve witnesses and twenty-four documents were produced by the prosecution.
The accused was charged in a different case in 2022 after raping the stepdaughter once more while he was free on bail in this case. The second case is presently undergoing trial proceedings.

The convicted person was also fined Rs 7.85 lakh by the court.
Additionally, it mandated that the victim receive compensation.
According to a police officer involved in the case, the victim and the convicted are both natives of Tamil Nadu, and the girl had been sexually abused by her stepfather since 2017.
According to the officer, the girl eventually told her mother, who then told the police, after receiving advice from a friend.
