Notorious Dacoit Escapes Police Custody Inside Dharmanagar Court Complex

Feared gang leader Rajibul Alam escaped police custody at Dharmanagar court by attacking a cop. Authorities have launched a manhunt to nab the repeat offender.

Tripura: Today, on June 02, A notorious dacoit named Rajibul Alam managed to escape from police custody at the Dharmanagar court complex on Monday.

The incident has shocked the local police and raised concerns about the safety and security arrangements during court proceedings.

According to police officials, Rajibul Alam is the leader of a gang of robbers and has been involved in several cases of theft and robbery, especially in the Churaibari and Kadamtala areas of North Tripura district.

He was arrested early in the morning on May 31 by a special team of the North Tripura District Police.

While being escorted back to the police custody after his court appearance, Rajibul Alam suddenly kicked one of the two police personnel who were escorting him and took the opportunity to flee from the court premises.

Despite being under police watch, the dacoit managed to slip away, leading to immediate concerns.

When contacted regarding the escape, Avinash Rai, the Superintendent of Police and in-charge of North Tripura district, confirmed the incident.

He said,

“A search was already launched to trace him.”

Police teams have now begun efforts to locate and rearrest the accused.

This was not the first time Rajibul Alam had created a disturbance at the court. On his first court appearance on May 31, he reportedly attacked a local journalist inside the court premises.

The journalist, who was performing his professional duties, was suddenly assaulted by the dacoit, who also issued a death threat during the incident.
