Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Meghalaya Police on Monday got custody of three accused from Uttar Pradesh in Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder case. They now want transit remand for Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raja’s wife, who police say organised the killing.
Raja Raghuvanshi was reportedly murdered by contract killers during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Police allege his wife, Sonam, hired them.
A senior UP police officer said-
“Sonam was found near a dhaba on the Varanasi‑Ghazipur main road.”
After she was arrested, she was taken to the Sakhi-One Stop Centre in Ghazipur. Meghalaya Police later took her to the District Hospital for medical tests.

Her hearing is ongoing in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Ghazipur.
Three accused – Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Raj Singh Kushwaha – will be sent to Shillong for further questioning.
Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya told media-
“They were presented before the CJM Judge, and Shillong police got a 7‑day transit remand. The fourth accused, Anand, is being brought to Indore from Sagar, Bina (Madhya Pradesh), and will be produced in court on Tuesday. All four will be taken to Shillong by Shillong Police.”
A statement said Meghalaya Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong confirmed four arrests tied to Raja’s murder. Speaking to media on June 9, shortly after Sonam surrendered, he said authorities are still looking for one suspect. He added that Sonam voluntarily surrendered, and all those detained will go to Shillong for questioning.
On allegations that Meghalaya has become a crime hub, he said such remarks had harmed the state’s image. He felt they were possibly made in haste and without thinking carefully.
He also thanked everyone involved in the search for the missing couple: police, Sohra residents, the SIT, SDRF, NDRF, Mountaineering Club, local taxi drivers, journalists, and others. He assured that the government will give police full authority to investigate motives behind Raja’s death.
Village leaders and state officials have also been asked to closely monitor outsiders entering Meghalaya and verify their credentials.
Police say Sonam and Raja are the main accused in the case.
Meghalaya SIT Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor said post‑mortem revealed Raja had-
“Two head injuries with a sharp cutting weapon.”
Neighbours of Sonam, speaking to media , say they are shocked.
Sapna Solanki, a neighbour, said-
“Her behaviour was very good. The wedding was celebrated with great pomp and Sonam looked very happy. There was no fear or suspicion that she could do something like this. We do not think she has done anything like that.”
Another neighbour said-
“Didi (Sonam) had a very good nature. She remained friendly with everyone. Everyone calls her ‘Bitti’. I don’t think she would have done such a thing because given her nature, she could only do good things like that.”
A third resident added-
“She had a very good nature. Hearing this today, we are very saddened because we never thought this way about her.”
Sagar ASP Sanjeev Uikey said one accused, Anand Patel, was arrested in a joint raid by MP and Meghalaya police.
“Meghalaya police contacted us and they even came here. Location of Anand Patel, one of the accused in the case, was found to be in Basari. The accused has been caught after a joint operation and Meghalaya Police has taken him for further investigation… He is a resident of Indore.”
Madhya Pradesh Police also stationed officers outside Sonam’s Indore home.

Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi from Indore had gone missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja’s body was later found in the state.
