Today, On 31st May, The special investigation team (SIT) has taken custody of Prajwal Revanna, a suspended member of the Janata Dal (Secular) party, for six days following allegations related to an obscene video. The case has generated significant controversy and media attention. The investigation aims to uncover details surrounding the video and any involvement of Revanna.
Karnataka: The Special Court of People’s Representatives in Bengaluru granted the Special Investigation Team (SIT) a six-day custody of the suspended Janata Dal (Secular) Member of Parliament, Prajwal Revanna. This is in connection with an alleged obscene video case.
Revanna produced before Justice KN Shivakumar of the Special Court in Bengaluru earlier today, as the SIT sought a 14-day custody of the suspended MP.
Arun, the advocate representing Revanna, granted permission to meet the Hassan MP while the MP, in the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). This meeting scheduled to take place between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM.
Prajwal’s attorney stated,
“He is fully cooperating with the SIT investigation, making further custody unnecessary.”
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Home Minister G Parameshwara commented,
“We urge more victims to come forward without fear, as the government is committed to ensuring their safety.”
The Hassan MP arrested by the SIT late Thursday night or early Friday morning upon his arrival at the Kempe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru. After his arrest, the MP taken for a medical examination at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital and then produced before the City Civil Court.
Revanna, on the other hand, returned to India from Berlin, Germany, nearly a month after leaving the country, supposedly on the night of April 26. This was after several obscene videos allegedly involving Revanna surfaced on social media platforms.
Revanna currently facing a probe by the SIT over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation, following a complaint filed by a woman who worked as a domestic help at his house.
On May 29th, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested two key suspects linked to the case. The individuals arrested have been identified as Naveen Gowda and Chetan. According to officials, the accused taken into custody when they appeared before the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. Chetan Gowda and Naveen Gowda alleged to have distributed pen drives containing videos of Prajwal Revanna engaging in the sexual assault of multiple women.
While in police custody, Prajwal Revanna‘s legal counsel will be permitted to meet with him for a one-hour session in the morning.
The 33-year-old Prajwal Revanna previously contested and won the Lok Sabha election in 2019 for the Hassan constituency.
