Tragic! iPhone of Chief Judicial Magistrate Stolen at Wankhede Stadium During IPL Match in Mumbai

Mumbai: In a surprising incident, the iPhone of a Chief Judicial Magistrate was stolen at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium while he was there to watch an IPL match.

According to the police, the theft took place on Thursday evening, April 18, while the magistrate and his family were entering the stadium.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate, who works in a court located in south Mumbai, had gone to watch the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He was accompanied by his wife, son and other relatives, and they were entering the stadium through Gate No. 4 when the incident happened.

Due to the heavy crowd at the stadium entrance, someone reportedly stole the magistrate’s iPhone 14 without him noticing. Later, when he realised that the phone was missing, he took quick action and filed a complaint online.

Following the complaint, the police registered a theft case at the Marine Drive police station.

Officials confirmed that “the incident took place on Thursday evening when the Chief Judicial Magistrate of a court in south Mumbai was entering the stadium through Gate No. 4 along with his wife, son and other relatives to watch a match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad”.

Police further added that “amid the crowd, someone stole his iPhone 14”. After the incident, the magistrate “filed an online complaint”, and authorities immediately took steps to register the case.

As per the official statement, a theft case was then registered at the Marine Drive police station, and an investigation is underway”.

The police are currently examining CCTV footage and questioning witnesses as part of their probe to track down the culprit and recover the stolen phone.

A similar incident took place, where two mobile phones belonging to Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal were stolen in Dehradun during a wedding ceremony.

The theft occurred on Mussoorie Road, prompting the Rajpur police station to register a case and initiate an investigation.

Justice Agarwal arrived in Dehradun on January 26 to attend a wedding at Foothill GardenNew Mussoorie Road, Malsi.

The theft took place between 4:45 PM and 5:15 PM, involving two iPhones one registered in the Chief Justice’s name and the other purchased through the Registrar General’s office.

P.D. Bhatt, in-charge of Rajpur Police Station, reported that Moolchand Tyagi, the Registrar General of the Gujarat High Court in Ahmedabad, filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case against unknown individuals.

As soon as the theft was reported, the Dehradun police reached the wedding venue to conduct an inquiry.
