They blocked the High Court square and caused a traffic jam. Some videos from the protest showed people surrounding a police car and shouting slogans.
The trouble started on Holi when Raju, also known as Kalu Gaur (50), who lives in Kulkarni Ka Bhatta, was going to a temple on his scooter. On his way, two children who were playing with colors threw some on him. Raju stopped and asked them not to do so. Just then, a lawyer named Arvind Jain, who lives in the same area, reached the spot.
Raju asked Arvind Jain to explain the situation to the children.
But instead of a calm talk, an argument broke out between them. Soon, things got worse when Jain’s two sons, Apurv and Arpit, allegedly attacked Raju. As the fight got intense, police officers who were on duty nearby came to control the situation. To stop the fight, they resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the people gathered there.
The next day, a large number of lawyers came out on the streets, accusing the police of using unnecessary force against their fellow lawyer, Arvind Jain. They demanded that FIRs be filed against the police officers who allegedly assaulted him.
During the protest on Saturday, common people passing through the area also got caught in the chaos. Some reports even suggested that a few passersby were beaten up in the commotion. The protest caused a massive traffic jam, as the road near the High Court square remained blocked for hours. Vehicles were stuck in long queues, stretching far beyond the protest area.
At one point, the protesting lawyers stopped the vehicle of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 4, Anand Yadav. Their anger against the police was clearly visible. Many of them raised loud slogans and demanded strict action against the guilty officers.

Speaking to the media, Additional DCP Amarendra Singh confirmed,
“A preliminary investigation has been started. If anyone is found guilty, strict action will be taken against them.”
However, he refused to say anything about the alleged attack on the police officer.
Meanwhile, Indore’s SDM Roshan Rai, who was present at the protest site, also commented on the issue. He admitted that there was a serious dispute between the police and the lawyers. He assured that the administration and police were working on a solution.
