This is part of the legal proceedings related to the controversy around the show India’s Got Latent.
Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija were called to the NCW office for questioning after a controversy erupted over certain remarks made on the show. The issue became serious after many people complained about the comments, calling them offensive.
Earlier, the NCW had sent summons to several content creators, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, Samay Raina, Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, Tushar Poojari, Saurabh Bothra, and Balraj Ghai.
They were supposed to appear before the commission last month. However, none of them attended the hearing. They gave different reasons, including concerns about personal safety, prior travel commitments, and logistical issues.
Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, asked for three more weeks before attending the hearing. He said he had received death threats and was worried about his safety. The NCW accepted his request and gave him a new date—March 6—for appearing before them. Apoorva Mukhija also expressed her fear about security and requested to attend the hearing online.
However, the NCW rejected her request and told her to be present physically.
The controversy started when Allahbadia made certain offensive remarks about parents and sex on India’s Got Latent, a show hosted by Samay Raina. Many people found these comments unacceptable, and the issue quickly spread on social media. Soon, complaints were filed, leading to the involvement of the NCW and the police.
After the controversy escalated, teams from the Mumbai and Assam police went to Allahbadia’s house to record his statement. However, when they reached there, they found that his house was locked. The next day, Ranveer Allahbadia posted a message on social media, saying that he was ready to cooperate with the authorities and answer any questions. He also repeated that he had received death threats.
Now, as the proceedings move forward, Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija are presenting their side of the story before the NCW. It remains to be seen how this case unfolds and what action will be taken based on their statements.
