The case stems from Basanagouda Patil Yatnal’s alleged comments on Tabassum Rao, in which he reportedly suggested there was “half Pakistan” in Dinesh Gundu Rao’s family.

Karnataka: A court in Bengaluru has issued a non-bailable warrant against BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal after he failed to appear for a hearing in a case related to his controversial remarks about Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s wife, Tabassum Rao.

The case is linked to his alleged statement that there was “half Pakistan” in Dinesh Gundu Rao’s family, which sparked outrage.

Basanagouda Patil Yatnal’s comments, which allegedly targeted Tabassum Rao, led to legal action. In response, Tabassum Rao filed a petition against the BJP MLA and lodged a formal complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, accusing the BJP’s social media cell of making derogatory comments about her.

Tabassum Rao, who is not involved in politics, voiced her concerns about being drawn into political conflicts. She expressed frustration over becoming a target and emphasized the need for greater respect towards women.

“Political disagreements should not involve personal attacks on family members,”

-she stated, condemning the communal tone of the remarks made against her.

The court has set the next hearing date for October 28, where further proceedings will take place in the ongoing case.
