Today, On 3rd July, In the Delhi excise policy case, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court ordered the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) to provide the accused with copies of the supplementary charge sheet and related documents within two days.

New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue court, on Wednesday, in Delhi directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to provide copies of the supplementary charge sheet and related documents to the accused parties within two days.
Special judge Kaveri Baweja also extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, K Kavitha, and other accused individuals until July 25.

An exemption from appearance requested on behalf of accused party Sanjay Singh. The court instructed the lawyers representing the accused to inspect the documents within ten days and then notify the court about any missing documents.

Advocate Nitesh Rana, counsel for Arun Ramchandra Pillai, stated that three additional charge sheets have also been filed in the case. He noted that the entire process will need to be repeated once the copies of the new charge sheets are received, as this will allow the defence to examine what new material has been included.
Rana stated,
“K Kavitha has yet to receive both the main charge sheet and the supplementary charge sheet as of the 6th.”
The court also instructed the counsels to complete the inspection of un-relied documents within one week, as per the previous order. On May 31, the court granted one month (June) for daily inspection and completion of the document review.

Additionally, the court requested that the counsel for the accused assign two associates to inspect the documents. The court further directed the ED to arrange for the inspection appropriately.
The Delhi court‘s insistence on the timely submission of the supplementary charge sheet by the Enforcement Directorate highlights the importance of due process and transparency in high-profile legal cases.
