Delhi drivers will get relief through Weekend Traffic Courts starting July 5, 2026, allowing vehicle owners to settle pending challans. The initiative by Delhi District Courts aims to reduce court workload and provide easier access to disposal of traffic violation cases.

Delhi drivers are set to get another chance to resolve their pending traffic challans with the rollout of Weekend Traffic Courts (WTCs) throughout the national capital. The scheme, announced by the Delhi District Courts, is intended to ease the workload of regular courts and make it simpler for vehicle owners to settle traffic-violation cases.
As per an official notice, the Weekend Traffic Courts will start operating from July 5, 2026. They will be held on the second Saturday and every Sunday of each month at all district court complexes in Delhi.
The courts will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the day’s proceedings split into two time slots: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
To use this facility, motorists will need to download their challan slips from the official Delhi Traffic Police portal by entering their vehicle registration number. The online challan download option will be enabled from June 25, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM.
During the download process, vehicle owners must choose a preferred court complex, the date they wish to appear, and a time slot. On the selected day, they are required to report to the designated court and submit a printed copy of the challan slip to the concerned judge.
These Weekend Traffic Courts will be limited to compoundable traffic offences, meaning cases that can be settled by paying the prescribed fine. Matters involving non-compoundable offences or other serious violations will continue to be dealt with through the usual judicial process.
The move comes in the backdrop of a growing backlog of pending traffic violations in Delhi. Reports citing Delhi Traffic Police figures as of June 15, 2026 indicate there are over 4.3 crore pending challans and camera-based notices, including more than 1 crore on-the-spot challans and nearly 3.3 crore notices issued through automated enforcement.
Officials have also said that existing mechanisms for challan settlement will remain available. Eligible cases can still be resolved via the Virtual Court platform, which operates round the clock and does not require physical presence. Evening courts will continue on working days from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and some matters may be routed to Lok Adalats for large-scale disposal.
With the introduction of the Weekend Traffic Courts, authorities aim to speed up the clearance of pending challans, reduce overall pendency, and offer motorists in the city a more convenient way to comply.
