Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has moved court seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to renew his expired passport. The court has asked ED and CBI to respond before the next hearing on June 4.
New Delhi: Today, On May 29, Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi and a key accused in the Delhi excise policy case, has approached the court to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) so that he can renew his passport.
Kejriwal filed this application on Thursday, asking the court to allow the renewal of his passport which expired in 2018.
His lawyer explained in court that Kejriwal now wants to renew the passport for 10 years.
“His passport expired in 2018 and he has moved the application seeking its renewal for 10 years.”
The matter was heard by Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh. After hearing the request, the judge issued a notice to both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The court has asked both agencies to file their replies regarding Kejriwal’s request.

The court has now fixed the next date of hearing as June 4, by which time both the ED and CBI are expected to respond.
“Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh issued notice to Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and sought their replies by June 4, the next date of hearing.”
The legal proceedings come as Kejriwal continues to face serious allegations in the Delhi excise policy case.
The Enforcement Directorate and CBI are investigating alleged irregularities and corruption in the now-scrapped liquor policy of Delhi.

The request for the NOC is crucial because, under Indian law, individuals who are accused or under investigation in criminal cases often need the court’s permission to renew their passport or travel abroad. This is mainly to ensure they remain available for investigation or trial.
