Today, On 12th September, A Delhi court granted bail to Vinod Chauhan, an alleged middleman in the Delhi excise policy scam. Chauhan was accused of playing a key role in facilitating illegal activities linked to the case. The court granted bail after considering his arguments and the evidence presented. The excise policy case continues to attract significant legal and political attention.
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday granted bail to Vinod Chauhan, an alleged “middleman,” in a money-laundering case tied to the suspected Delhi excise scam.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja granted Chauhan bail on a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh. Chauhan accused of facilitating the transfer of cash from alleged kickbacks provided by the “South Group” to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for their election campaign in Goa.

Chauhan arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in May, and a supplementary chargesheet against him was filed by the ED on June 28.
Chauhan is the 18th individual arrested in this case, which also involves prominent figures such as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, and BRS leader K Kavitha, among others.
The ED previously claimed that of the Rs 100 crore bribe allegedly given to the AAP by the “South Group” in connection with the Delhi excise policy, Rs 45 crore used for the party’s Goa Assembly campaign.

The excise case involves accusations of corruption and money laundering related to the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government’s 2021-22 excise policy, which later revoked.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged misconduct. Following this, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
After the CBI registered an FIR on August 17, 2022, the ED filed its money-laundering case on August 22, 2022, to investigate the suspected irregularities.
