The court directed a Telangana minister to refrain from making any further defamatory remarks against K.T. Rama Rao. This order came in response to interlocutory applications filed by Rama Rao as part of his defamation case against recent comments made by Surekha, which had sparked controversy.
Hyderabad: A local court issued an interim injunction prohibiting Telangana Minister Konda Surekha from making further defamatory remarks that could harm the reputation of BRS working president K T Rama Rao.
This ruling followed separate interlocutory applications submitted by Rama Rao in response to Surekha’s recent comments, which sparked controversy.
The court also instructed various media outlets, including newspapers, news channels, and social media platforms, to remove any defamatory content related to the issue.
Lalitha Reddy, a member of the BRS legal team, stated that the interlocutory applications are scheduled for a hearing on November 11, while the main lawsuit is set for November 21. Attempts to reach Surekha for comment were unsuccessful.
Additionally, actor Nagarjuna filed a defamation complaint against Surekha due to her remarks involving his son, Naga Chaitanya. Both Nagarjuna and Rama Rao have already provided their statements in court regarding their respective defamation cases.
As the defamation suit proceeds, K.T. Rama Rao’s legal team filed interlocutory applications seeking immediate relief, asking the court to prevent Surekha from making any further statements that could exacerbate the situation.
Responding to these applications, the court issued an order restraining the minister from making additional defamatory remarks against K.T. Rama Rao while the case remains under consideration. This directive serves to mitigate any further harm to K.T. Rama Rao’s reputation and provides temporary relief until the court can reach a final decision on the defamation claims.
The court’s directive serves as a reminder of the judiciary’s role in managing public discourse and protecting individual reputations amidst political rivalries. While the defamation case continues, this interim measure seeks to balance K.T. Rama Rao’s right to protect his reputation with the court’s need to carefully examine the allegations and evidence presented in the case.
The matter remains under judicial scrutiny as both parties prepare for further legal proceedings.
