Cross-examination of a witness was held in the defamation case against Rahul Gandhi filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra. The hearing will continue on May 17 before the special MP/MLA court.
SULTANPUR (UP): On Monday, the cross-examination of a witness took place in a defamation case that has been filed against Rahul Gandhi, who is currently the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The case is being heard in a special MP/MLA court.
The defamation complaint was filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra. His lawyer, Santosh Kumar Pandey, produced a witness named Anil Mishra in the court. Anil Mishra is a resident of Pitambarpur Kala village, which comes under the Kotwali Dehat police station area.

During the court proceedings, Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer, Kashi Prasad Shukla, carried out the cross-examination of the witness. However, the cross-examination could not be completed on Monday itself. Due to the incomplete cross-examination, the Special Judge, Shubham Verma, decided to schedule the next hearing for May 17.
The case has gained attention because it involves serious allegations of defamation against a prominent political figure. According to the information shared, BJP leader Vijay Mishra’s side is trying to prove the allegations, while Rahul Gandhi’s legal team is strongly defending him.

The special MP/MLA court, presided over by Special Judge Shubham Verma, is handling the matter seriously and is ensuring that all legal procedures are properly followed.
Earlier during the hearing, BJP leader Vijay Mishra’s counsel, Santosh Kumar Pandey, said that,
they were presenting their witness, Anil Mishra, as part of the prosecution evidence.

Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer, Kashi Prasad Shukla, then started the cross-examination but could not finish it, leading to the judge fixing a new date.
Special Judge Shubham Verma officially stated that,
the matter would now continue on May 17.
This case is being closely watched because it involves high-profile leaders from the BJP and Congress parties and could have political implications, especially with Rahul Gandhi recently taking on a new role as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha.
