Charges Filed Against Lawrence Bishnoi and 26 Others| Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case

Lawrence Bishnoi and 26 others charged in connection with the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. The charges allege their involvement in the planning and execution of the crime. Legal proceedings are underway as the case continues to unfold.

Chandigarh: A court in Mansa, Punjab, initiated formal legal proceedings against Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious incarcerated gangster, along with 26 others implicated in the murder case of the celebrated singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, widely recognized as Sidhu Moosewala. The tragic incident, which resulted in the death of Sidhu Moosewala, occurred in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.

Despite these developments, the chief suspect, Satinderjit Singh, also known as Goldy Brar, a gangster believed to be residing in Canada, remains at large. To date, no legal charges brought against him in this high-profile case.

The legal representative for Moosewala’s family, Satinder Pal Singh Mittal, disclosed,

“Charges were formally levied against 27 individuals implicated in the murder of Moosewala by District Sessions Judge H.S. Grewal,” .

Additionally, Mittal noted that the court rejected the discharge petitions filed by the accused Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Jagtar Singh, and Charanjit Singh Chetan. The subsequent court session scheduled for May 20.

In response to the recent legal actions, Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, expressed a measure of solace, noting that this was the first time the family had felt some relief in the past two years. The accused have faced charges under a range of sections of the Indian Penal Code. These include Section 302, which pertains to murder, and Section 307 for attempt to murder.

Additional charges include Section 326 for causing severe harm using dangerous weapons, Section 148 for rioting with deadly weapons, Section 201 for the deliberate concealment of evidence related to an offense, Section 212 for sheltering an offender, and Section 120 B for criminal conspiracy. The allegations also encompass various applicable sections of the Arms Act, which deals with the regulation and control of the use of firearms.

Sidhu Moosewala tragically lost his life during a sudden and aggressive attack during travel with his friend and cousin to Jawahar Ke village in Mansa district. The group in a jeep when it intercepted and besieged by gunfire from six assailants. Following the brutal attack, Goldy Brar, a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, publicly asserted his participation in planning and coordinating Moosewala’s murder. This declaration highlighted the connection between Brar and the criminal activities of the Bishnoi gang.

The charge sheet submitted by the police identifies Brar as the key architect behind the assassination of Moosewala. This act of violence was reportedly executed to “avenge” the death of Vicky Middukhera, a leader from the Youth Akali Dal, who killed in 2021. Reflecting the severity of his alleged crimes, Brar officially labelled a terrorist by the authorities under the stringent anti-terror legislation, the UAPA, in January of this year.

According to the charge sheet, he collaborated with Lawrence Bishnoi, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sachin Bhiwani, Anmol Bishnoi, Sachin Thapan, Monu Dagar, Pawan Bishnoi, and the shooters to devise a plan to assassinate Moosewala. Bishnoi, who alleged to have been managing his criminal operations from Tihar jail, subsequently detained by Punjab police in connection with the murder case.
