A special court in Bengaluru issued a non-bailable warrant on Thursday against former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in connection with the POCSO case filed against him.

KARNATAKA: Today (13th June): Former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa as a Bengaluru court issued an arrest warrant against him in a POCSO case. The BJP leader faces charges under the POCSO Act and Section 354 A (Sexual Harassment) of the Indian Penal Code following a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl.

The incident, which allegedly occurred on February 2, led to a complaint being lodged by the mother of a 17-year-old girl at Sadashivanagar police station in Bengaluru.
The mother alleged that Yediyurappa sexually assaulted her daughter during a meeting at his residence in Dollars Colony on February 2nd this year.
Earlier, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is handling the case, had issued a notice summoning Yediyurappa for questioning. He mentioned that Yediyurappa might be arrested if necessary.
“Notice has been served procedurally, and the charge-sheet has to be filed by June 15. The CID will file the charge-sheet before that deadline. They will follow the necessary procedures, including recording his statement and producing him in court,” Parameshwara told reporters in Tumkuru.
The Sadashivanagar police registered the case against Yediyurappa on March 14, and the investigation was transferred to the CID the same day.
The 54-year-old woman who made the allegations against the BJP leader passed away last month due to lung cancer at a private hospital in Tumkuru.

Meanwhile, Yediyurappa, who has denied the allegations, filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday to quash the FIR against him.
Fearing arrest, the senior BJP leader filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Karnataka High Court. Yediyurappa’s bail plea is scheduled to be heard by the high court on Friday, June 14.
