Telangana: Panic and fear spread across the City Civil Court at Purani Haveli in Hyderabad on the morning of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, after an anonymous email was sent to the Chief Judge.
The email claimed that four RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted inside the court premises.
The email, which was received at 3:43 am, stated that the bombs were placed inside the Judge’s chambers and other parts of the court building. As soon as this serious threat was noticed, the court staff informed the Mirchowk police without delay.
In response to the threat, court proceedings were completely stopped for the day. The entire Civil Court premises were immediately evacuated as a safety measure. According to Mirchowk Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Venkateshwar Rao, three teams from the bomb disposal squad along with police officers reached the court building as fast as possible.
They began a complete and detailed search of the entire area to make sure no explosives were hidden.
Sniffer dogs and modern bomb detection equipment were used during the operation to detect any possible bomb or suspicious object. The police officers worked carefully to check every part of the court building.
ACP Venkateshwar Rao confirmed the status of the operation by saying,
“The email was brought to our attention around 10.30 a.m.. We have vacated the area and deployed bomb squads for inspection. No suspicious items have been found so far,”
-he said.
The search operation is still ongoing, and police have taken full control of the area to ensure everyone’s safety. Meanwhile, a detailed investigation is being carried out to find out who sent the email and from where it was sent.
This fake bomb threat has raised serious concerns about security in important public buildings like courts. Police have promised to trace the person responsible and take strict legal action against them once they are identified.
