Today, On 12th September, Bomb scares hit both Delhi and Bombay High Courts on Friday after threat emails warned of possible explosions, triggering evacuations and massive search operations. Authorities later confirmed both threats were hoaxes, restoring calm and resuming judicial proceedings.

High drama unfolded today in two major courts of the country after both the Delhi High Court and the Bombay High Court received bomb threat emails, leading to temporary evacuations and suspension of proceedings.

In Delhi, panic spread after the High Court administration received an e-mail threatening an attack. The message, which reached the registrar general at around 8:39 am, warned of explosions in judges’ chambers and courtrooms around mid-day.

The situation prompted an immediate evacuation of judges and litigants from courtrooms. A thorough search operation was launched by Delhi Police with the assistance of fire officials, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads.

However, Delhi Police later declared the threat a hoax, confirming that no explosives were found.

Despite the chaos, the spirit of the judiciary remained firm.

An advocate shared on X,

“Just appeared in the Court of Justice Tara Ganju, who, like many judges of the Delhi High Court, undeterred by bomb threats, held court post lunch. Reminded me of the bomb blast of 2011 when I heard and saw the blast outside the High Court. In a strong message ,all judges returned to hold court in the afternoon! The Court cannot be intimidated and justice cannot be derailed!”

Similarly, the Bombay High Court administration also received a bomb threat email on Friday afternoon. This resulted in suspension of hearings for nearly two hours.

The premises were vacated, and an extensive search operation was carried out. As in Delhi, the threat turned out to be false.

A senior police official said,

“A bomb threat email was received by the Bombay HC authorities in the afternoon. A thorough search was conducted, but nothing suspicious was found. It turned out to be a hoax mail,”

Both incidents created panic and disrupted judicial proceedings, but officials confirmed that normal functioning resumed once the premises were declared safe.
