Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna’s second bail plea in a rape case was denied by a Bengaluru trial court. He had earlier approached the High Court citing trial delay.
Bengaluru: Today, on July 25, a trial court has rejected the second bail request of Prajwal Revanna, a suspended leader from the Janata Dal (Secular) party, in one of the serious rape cases filed against him. The decision came on Friday, with Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat refusing to grant bail.
Earlier, Revanna had also been denied bail during his first attempt. Following that, he had approached the Karnataka High Court, asking for bail on the grounds that the trial in the case was getting delayed.

On July 9, Justice S.R. Krishna Kumar of the High Court stated,
“Revanna is at liberty to re-approach the High Court if needed, after the trial court decides on his bail plea.”
Based on this direction, Revanna once again moved the special trial court with a fresh bail plea, which has now also been dismissed.
Revanna is the main accused in a shocking criminal case involving multiple charges of rape and sexual assault.
Last year, four criminal cases were filed against him after over 2,900 videos allegedly showing sexual assault on several women were shared online, including through social media platforms.
The first case against him was filed in April 2023 by a domestic help who worked at the farmhouse owned by the Revanna family.
She alleged that Prajwal Revanna raped her repeatedly and also threatened to make videos of the sexual assaults public if she tried to report him. According to her, the first such incident took place in 2021.
The trial court in Bengaluru has already framed several serious criminal charges against Revanna. These include rape, criminal intimidation, voyeurism, and the illegal distribution of private videos.
On July 18, the court reserved its final verdict in the trial. This judgment is now expected to be announced on July 30.
This case has drawn widespread public and media attention due to the severity of the accusations and the large number of alleged victims.
The visuals of the assaults, reportedly leaked online, have made the situation even more serious and sensitive.
