The Bengaluru 64th Sessions Court on Monday officially framed serious charges including murder, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and unlawful assembly against Kannada actor Darshan, actress Pavitra Gowda, and 15 other people in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy.

All 17 accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial in the case is now scheduled to begin on November 10.

The courtroom was packed with people as the proceedings began, leading to chaos and inconvenience. The presiding judge, IP Naik, expressed clear frustration over the large crowd present in the courtroom.

He remarked,

“How can charges be framed with so many people here?”

The judge asked lawyers who were not connected with the case to leave the courtroom immediately. He further warned that if the crowding continued, he might have to postpone the hearing.

He also hinted that the court could consider holding in-camera proceedings if necessary to ensure order and smooth progress.

After the courtroom was cleared and order restored, the judge began formally reading out the charges, starting with the first accused, Pavitra Gowda. The court noted that the victim, Renukaswamy, had allegedly sent obscene and offensive messages to Pavitra.

Following this, he was kidnapped, taken to a shed in Bengaluru, and brutally assaulted. While reading the charges, the judge said,

“He was beaten with slippers and a wooden plank, causing fatal injuries.”

The court also stated that according to the prosecution,

“Pavitra hit Renukaswamy with a slipper, while Darshan allegedly removed his pants and assaulted his private parts, leading to his death.”

It was further noted that some of the other accused were allegedly offered money to take the blame and falsely confess to the crime.

After the charges were read, all 17 accused, including Darshan and Pavitra, denied the allegations and refused to plead guilty. The court then began the formal signing procedure to confirm that the charges had been framed against each of them.

Once the paperwork was completed, Darshan, Pavitra Gowda, and seven other accused persons were escorted back to jail under tight security.

The next hearing has been scheduled for November 10, which will mark the official beginning of the trial in the highly publicized Renukaswamy murder case.

The case continues to draw widespread attention due to the involvement of popular film personalities and the shocking nature of the allegations. The court has made it clear that proceedings will be conducted strictly as per law, and unnecessary disturbances inside the courtroom will not be tolerated.

As the trial begins, all eyes will be on how the prosecution presents its case and how the defense team counters the serious accusations against the well-known actor and others.
