PUNJAB: YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant Armaan Malik and his two wives, Payal Malik and Kritika Malik, are facing legal trouble after a Patiala district court issued summons in two separate cases. The court has directed all three to appear on 2 September.
The summons arose from a petition filed by Davinder Rajput, who alleges that Armaan Malik has not just two, but four marriages, a clear violation of the Hindu Marriage Act, which permits only one marriage at a time for individuals practicing Hinduism.
In addition to the bigamy charge, the petition accuses Armaan Malik and Payal Malik of hurting religious sentiments. The controversy began when Payal appeared dressed as Hindu goddess Kali in an Instagram video, sparking outrage among some viewers. The petitioner claims this act insulted religious beliefs and constitutes a punishable offence under Indian law.
Following the controversy, Armaan and Payal Malik took multiple steps to offer a public apology and seek atonement for the incident.
- On 22 July, the couple visited the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala, offered prayers, and apologised.
- On 23 July, they visited another Kali temple in Kharar, Mohali, where Payal reportedly began a seven-day religious punishment, which included temple cleaning and rituals.
- They later travelled to Haridwar to seek forgiveness from Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri of the Niranjani Akhara.
However, during this period, Payal Malik’s health deteriorated and she was hospitalised in Mohali.
Who is Armaan Malik?
Born in Hisar, Haryana, Armaan Malik (real name Sandeep) worked at a private bank before moving to Delhi and pursuing a career as a content creator. Over the years, he built a massive following on social media with his personal life, especially his two marriages, which often became a subject of public curiosity.
He gained nationwide attention when he entered Bigg Boss OTT Season 3 on 21 June 2024, accompanied by both Payal and Kritika. Since then, the trio has remained in the headlines for their unconventional lifestyle and frequent social media appearances.
