The remand order was issued by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ravindrakumar M. Kattimani.
Consequently, Revanna will remain in SIT custody until May 8.
Revanna was taken into custody by the SIT after being denied interim anticipatory bail on Sunday by Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhatt.
This is the second criminal case against Revanna in recent times related to sexual abuse allegations involving his son, Prajwal Revanna, who also serves as a Lok Sabha member for Hassan. According to reports, Prajwal Revanna has been summoned by the SIT as part of their ongoing investigation.
According to a report by The Hindu, HD Revanna was booked based on a complaint alleging the kidnapping of one of the victims of his son, Prajwal Revanna. The report stated that the victim worked as a house help at HD Revanna’s residence and was kidnapped to prevent her from testifying against Prajwal Revanna.
HD Revanna had filed a plea for anticipatory bail in this case on the same day he withdrew his anticipatory bail plea in a sexual abuse case registered against him.
The sexual abuse allegations against Prajwal Revanna emerged after over 2,900 videos depicting the sexual assault of several women were recently circulated on social media.
The SIT, led by senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer BK Singh, is currently probing the case and has summoned Prajwal Revanna for questioning.
Amid the public outrage, Prajwal Revanna is reported to have fled to Germany shortly after the April 26 polls in Karnataka. In his first communication since the allegations surfaced, Prajwal Revanna, via the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), stated that he was “not in Bangalore” and sought additional time to appear before the SIT.
