A Vakalatnama has been filed against the accused in the Vadodara accident case. Following legal proceedings, the accused has been sent to judicial custody. The victim’s lawyer confirmed this development. Further legal actions are expected in the case.
Vadodara: Yogesh Rana, the lawyer representing the victim of the Vadodara accident, stated that they have filed a Vakalatnama (memo of appearance) against the accused, Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, who has been placed in judicial custody by the court.
Rana told,
“We have submitted the Vakalatnama, and as of now, the accused has not filed any bail application. The investigation officer presented him before the court, which resulted in the accused being sent to judicial custody,”

He emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting,
“A woman has died, and her husband is in critical condition. Three individuals from the other scooty, including two children and another woman, are also in critical condition. The fact that the accused was allowed to make a statement to the media while in police custody demonstrates negligence on the part of the police.”
Meanwhile, one woman has died, and four others were injured after an over speeding four-wheeler collided with a two-wheeler on March 14.

Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar confirmed that more than three vehicles were involved in the incident.
He added,
“The police are recovering evidence from the crime scene, and we are tracking the movements of both the driver and co-passenger of the four-wheeler. The driver is in police custody, and we have successfully traced the movements of the co-passenger. Further investigation is ongoing.”
The police have filed a drink and drive case against Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, the accused, who maintains that he was not under the influence on the night of the incident.
Chaurasia stated,
“We were ahead of the scooty, turning right when we encountered a pothole on the road. As we turned, our car slightly brushed against the other vehicle, which caused the airbag to deploy suddenly. This hampered our vision, and the car went out of control,”
A Vakalatnama is a legal document that authorizes an advocate to represent a client in court proceedings. It acts as a power of attorney given to a lawyer by a client, granting permission to act on their behalf in legal matters.

A viral video from Thursday night captured the incident, showing Chaurasiya’s car crashing into multiple vehicles at a busy intersection in Vadodara’s Karelibaug area. The crash resulted in the immediate death of a woman identified as Hemaliben Patel, while three to four others were seriously injured, including a 12-year-old named Jaini, a 35-year-old woman named Nishaben, an unidentified 10-year-old girl, and an unidentified 40-year-old man.
Footage following the accident depicted Chaurasiya’s friend emerging from the car, Clearly upset about the incident, while Chaurasiya exited the vehicle appearing unstable and shouting incoherently. He repeatedly exclaimed, “Another round” and “Om Namah Shivay.”
Leena Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, confirmed that the driver was intoxicated and had been taken into custody. Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar noted that more than three vehicles were involved in the incident, which included two active vehicles and one electric vehicle (EV).
According to police reports, the car was driven rashly and collided with multiple vehicles. Eyewitnesses mentioned that the car took a sharp turn from the front mode, prompting many bystanders to escape.
However, the four-wheeler still managed to hit several vehicles, killing one woman on the spot and leaving four to five others injured.
Police confirmed it was a case of drink and drive. The car’s speed suspected to be over 100 kmph. The entire accident was captured on CCTV from the nearby Amrapali Complex. The driver has been identified as Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, a resident of Varanasi who is currently studying law at MS University in Vadodara.
