The Supreme Court of India has released its 2026 recruitment notification for multiple Registry posts, including Assistant Editor, Assistant Director, Senior Court Assistant and Assistant Librarian.
Online applications will open on February 23, 2026 and close on March 8, 2026.

The Supreme Court of India has issued a fresh recruitment notification inviting online applications for several posts in its Registry. As per the official advertisement released on February 18, 2026, eligible Indian citizens can apply for positions including Assistant Editor (Supreme Court Reports), Assistant Director (Supreme Court Museum), Senior Court Assistant (Museum) and Assistant Librarian.
The online application process will start from February 23, 2026 and will remain open until March 8, 2026. Interested candidates must submit their applications only through the official website, sci.gov.in, within the prescribed dates. Applications sent through any other mode will not be accepted by the Court administration.
According to the notification, the recruitment drive covers four categories of posts. There are five vacancies for the post of Assistant Editor (Supreme Court Reports). One vacancy has been announced for Assistant Director in the Supreme Court Museum.
Two positions are available for Senior Court Assistant in the Museum. In addition, fourteen posts have been notified for Assistant Librarian, which include seats reserved for different categories as per government norms.
The Assistant Editor post is placed under Pay Level 12, carrying an initial basic pay of Rs 78,800. The Assistant Director position falls under Pay Level 11 with an initial basic pay of Rs 67,700. The posts of Senior Court Assistant and Assistant Librarian are under Pay Level 8, with an initial basic pay of Rs 47,600. Selected candidates will also receive allowances and other benefits as per applicable rules.
The upper age limit differs depending on the post, ranging between 30 and 40 years. However, age relaxation will be provided in accordance with Government of India guidelines for eligible categories.
The selection process will vary for each post. For the Assistant Editor position, candidates must possess a law degree recognised by the Bar Council of India along with at least three years of relevant professional experience. The selection process will consist of a written examination followed by an interview.

For the Assistant Director post, applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Museology with first-class marks and have a minimum of five years’ research experience. The selection procedure will include a written test, a qualifying computer test and an interview.
Candidates applying for the Senior Court Assistant role must have a Master’s degree in Museology with at least 55 per cent marks and two years of relevant experience. For the Assistant Librarian post, a degree in Library Science, a computer diploma and a minimum of two years of related work experience are mandatory.
The written examinations are scheduled to be conducted in major cities including Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. However, interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place in Delhi.
