South Asian University in Delhi faces outrage as a female student was allegedly sexually assaulted by a security guard and three men. Students protest, demanding justice, stricter safety measures, and accountability from university authorities.

South Asian University (SAU) campus in Delhi filled with anger after a female student claimed she was sexually assaulted.

The student claimed that four individuals attempted to gang-rape her at a construction site on campus on Sunday. In her complaint, she stated that the assailants tore her clothing and touched her inappropriately.

The police were alerted to the incident around 3 PM by a friend of the survivor, according to senior officer Ankit Chauhan.

Prior to the assault, the survivor had been receiving emails and messages from an anonymous source soliciting sexual favors, as reported by a close associate to Media. The perpetrators also allegedly manipulated her images using AI technology.

The police have filed a case against unidentified suspects, including a security guard and others, and have included charges related to attempted gang rape. Investigators are actively reviewing CCTV footage from different locations on the university grounds to identify the culprits.

The South Asian University strongly condemned the “alleged horrific act of sexual violence” on its campus.

It posted on X,

“The South Asian University condemns this alleged act of sexual violence, in the strongest terms and in one voice. We stand with our students, and assure them of our full support. SAU has a zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment and all forms of violence against women. We strongly condemn, and stand in support, and solidarity,”

In a statement released overnight, SAU officials expressed their commitment to fully cooperating with law enforcement.

The statement read,

“The university stands with our community during this difficult time. We are working closely with the police to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation,”

Additionally, SAU has formed an inquiry committee to look into the incident.

The Delhi Police have interrogated approximately 70 security guards regarding the alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old South Asian University (SAU) student by four individuals, including one guard, on campus grounds, according to an official.

CCTV footage from various locations on the campus has been collected for analysis, and multiple teams are actively working to identify and apprehend the suspects. The first-year B.Tech student was discovered injured with torn clothing on October 13, just a day after she was reported missing.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that four individuals, including a security guard, sexually and physically assaulted her, stripped her of her clothes, and forced her to take an abortion pill.

The police indicated that they are currently working to trace the IP address associated with the threatening messages in order to identify the sender.
